Okarshamns Energi AB

Well-thought-out IT security solutions via Microsoft 365

The need

Oskarshamn Energi offers electricity, power networks, heating, biogas, as well as services and contracting in the Oskarshamn region. As a provider of critical societal functions, it is of utmost importance for them to have the highest possible security in the IT environment.

The solution

Together with Advitum, Oskarshamn Energi has implemented an initiative to introduce security features in Microsoft 365. Microsoft 365 is a package from Microsoft available at several different levels, with numerous security features aimed at protecting the entire IT environment in the form of identities, devices, and other IT infrastructure.

Examples of security features introduced include

  • Defender for Endpoint
  • Conditional Access with MFA
  • Security Baselines
  • Data Loss Prevention
  • Continuous work to increase Secure Score

The result

For Oskarshamn Energy, the commitment to Microsoft 365 means that total IT security is progressively increased while adapting to both an increasing threat landscape and the regulatory requirements such as NIS 2.

“Our IT security work is based on well-thought-out security solutions together with our partner Advitum.”

Elajo

Microsoft 365 Workshop

The need

Elajo is one of Sweden’s leading electrical, mechanical, and energy companies with broad expertise and a knowledgeable staff. Focusing on energy efficiency, high quality, and unique solutions, they aim to increase their customers’ competitiveness and be an attractive business partner. Like many other organizations, Elajo is in the midst of a cloud journey, which involves many new challenges.

The solution

Elajo chose to hire Advitum to conduct a full-day workshop on Microsoft 365, aimed at supporting Elajo in its continued cloud journey through the following steps

  • Review of the current situation
  • Overview of Microsoft’s various licensing options
  • Discussion of current challenges/questions
  • Joint action plan for the next steps in the short and long term

The result

For Elajo, the workshop meant that many questions and challenges could be mapped and investigated, while the workshop also involved a competence increase for Elajo’s IT department. With the action plan that also resulted from the workshop, future work on the cloud journey will be much easier and more structured.

“We had gotten stuck internally in some areas around our cloud journey, and with Advitum’s experienced consultant conducting the Workshop, we were able to figure out how to move forward with both IT security and user-friendliness as the focus”

Modig Machine Tool

IT Security Analysis

The need

Modig Machine Tool was founded in 1947 with the goal of building world-class machines and still leads the development of manufacturing machines for industries such as the aviation industry. With 11,000 units delivered, the Modig brand stands for quality and trust. However, like all other organizations, they constantly need to evaluate their IT security.

The solution

Together with Advitum’s experienced consultants, Modig Machine Tool conducted an IT security analysis, jointly reviewing the current situation in a number of areas and documenting each of them.

  • Current situation – what does the IT environment look like today
  • Risks – what are the consequences/risks
  • Priority action list – which risks should we address and in what order
  • Costs – estimated costs for each action

The result

The result for Modig Machine Tool was that some of the risks identified were immediately addressed, while a plan to manage other risks was created for the coming years. Including estimated costs in the analysis made it easier to budget for the necessary measures.

“The IT security analysis with Advitum raised our awareness of IT security while giving us a good tool to work with to increase IT security in the coming years. In summary, the analysis has significantly reduced the risk of cyberattacks for our organization.”

Södra

Cloud storage

The need

Södra has made the strategic decision to move its server park to a cloud-based solution. A complicated and large project in which all systems in the organization are being reviewed. In connection with the planning of the move, Advitum was contacted for specialist assistance on how to best move the Citrix components to a cloud-based solution.

The solution

To deliver a cloud-based operation of Citrix applications and desktops, a move to Citrix cloud was carried out, where the infrastructure is managed by Citrix. The move means that Södra gets the opportunity to seamlessly move users between different cloud service providers or to its own data center if needed in the future. For Södra’s users, the move between different providers is completely transparent, and they access their applications via their Citrix portal just as before.

For Södra, it also means that they can choose to place the load where it is most appropriate, without having to interrupt the ongoing operations that run around the clock. Since Citrix cloud is delivered as a service, IT staff can also focus more on development work instead of maintaining IT infrastructure.

The result

Södra has obtained a flexible solution where they are ready to receive future cloud services. Thanks to consolidation, they have also been able to reduce the number of servers, thereby achieving a more reliable and robust solution.

“Södra is an innovative company that wants to be at the forefront, and therefore it was also a matter of course to choose Citrix’s cloud solution to manage our published applications. Citrix cloud will in the future free up time for our system administrators who can instead focus on more value-creating activities. Through Advitum’s solid Citrix expertise and their professional delivery, Citrix cloud was introduced into Södra’s environment in an exemplary manner.”

Vida AB

Secure Publishing with Citrix ADC

The need

Vida AB is one of Sweden’s largest private forest conglomerates with operations throughout southern and central Sweden. Like many other companies and organizations, they have had to focus increasingly on IT security in recent years. As a result, there was a need to replace several older systems where the suppliers’ support had ended or was about to end.

The solution

The choice of Citrix Netscaler was natural as it can replace several of the previous systems that were to be changed. Together with Advitum, a project was carried out where two Citrix Netscaler Enterprise were implemented, and many functions such as external publishing of email, external publishing of various web services, and external access to the Citrix XenApp environment were gradually moved to Netscaler.

The result

For the users, the project means that access to various external services is streamlined and in some cases, a single login is sufficient for several different services. For the IT unit, the main advantages are that security and availability increase significantly, and the flexibility to meet the need for future functions is improved.

“We are very satisfied with the solution and its flexibility, now we can quickly and easily adapt to the different needs that the business has”
